Francisco Godia (Barcelona, 1921-1990) was a multifaceted man. A brilliant, intuitive businessman, a passionate art collector and friend of artists, he was also the personification of the gentleman driver from the golden age of motor sport before racing turned professional.

Godia competed in races at the highest level. In 1956 he achieved his best results in the Formula 1 World Championship in a Maserati 250 F: two fourth places in Germany and Italy and seventh place in the final standings. An extraordinary result for a private driver. He also took part in endurance competitions in the legendary Ford GT 40 and won the 6-h Barcelona race with Brian Muir in 1968.
