Liliana Godia is awarded the Montblanc prize

Fundación Montblanc de la Cultura, the Montblanc Foundation for Culture, has awarded Liliana Godia, chair of the Francisco Godia Foundation, the Montblanc Culture Prize 2009 in recognition of her patronage of the Francisco Godia Foundation. The jury also valued her support for and help in spreading culture and the arts all around Europe.

The Francisco Godia Foundation's mission is to contribute to spreading, promoting and developing our cultural heritage through one of the most complete art collections in Europe, which covers all stages of the history of art, from the 12th century to the present. Since it was inaugurated in 1999, in honour of the memory of her father, Francisco Godia, Liliana Godia has taken part in all of the projects aimed at making a contribution to art and culture in the country.

The Montblanc Culture Prize is awarded every year to patrons from different countries: China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain and the United Kingdom. The winners are chosen by an international jury of well-known artists, which changes each year. This year the members of the jury in Spain were the designer Lydia Delgado, the opera singer Stefano Palatchi and the musician Vicente Amigo. The winners receive €15,000 to donate to the cultural project of their choice, and a limited edition Montblanc Patron of Art fountain pen, which was specially designed for them. This year the winner received an additional cheque of $15,000 specially donated from part of the profits from the last Lang Lang CD, which includes pieces by Chopin. The winner donated the prize to the exhibition of the contemporary Chinese artist Zeng Fanzhi.
